I recently bought Jackie Brown (never saw the movie before) on DVD. A release, on which you couldn't turn off the German subtitles, if you wanted to watch it in the original language. FCS, let me – as your consumer who gave you money – decide if I want subtitles or not. I very much prefer watching movies in the original language and if that is english, I don't need no stinking subtitles.

And don't get me started with the region-code issue and the equally annoying movie studio intros, resp. “if you're a pirate, you're very bad” screens, which you can't skip at all (at least not with the default Apple DVD player).

Many kudos to Jim Jarmusch by the way in that regard, he forbid to dub “Night on Earth” (don't know about his other movies), and of course I was glad he allowed at least subtitling for the Finish part of the movie. I hope more directors will follow him, dubbing movies is kind of a crime on art, IMHO :) A lot of movies lose a lot of their atmosphere, if you hear the same german speakers on different actors all over again .
