The new website of the Museum fĂŒr Gestaltung ZĂŒrich serves as the central hub for the museum's digital communication and offer visitors the opportunity to connect with the museum. In co-creation, we crafted a solution that allows the design to speak for itself.
Simplicity that lets Design speak
Liip partnered with the Museum fĂŒr Gestaltung ZĂŒrich to enable seamless experiences for visitors, both online and offline. The design follows the principle of âSwiss Designâ: reduction, clarity, and aesthetic consistency form the basis. Function and form merge into an intuitive, modular user interface that puts content centre stage. We use the space to put design at the centre of the visitor experience.
Where Access meets Experience
Accessibility is a key element that the Museum fĂŒr Gestaltung ZĂŒrich and Liip prioritised for the new design and experience. The offers are presented in a personalised way for different target groups, such as adults and young people, children and families, schools and groups (accessible and inclusive). As the Museum operates at three different locations, we always guide visitors to the correct location to see and experience events and exhibitions tailored to their individual interests. Clear communication and consistency in design provide a sense of space and orientation throughout the entire visit.

The realisation was carried out in agile co-creation with the customer, supported by direct exchange at eye level. Together, we took the time to translate the design principles into a design system that scales to meet the digital needs of the Museum and its visitors. Accessibility, ease of use and maximised productivity are reached by leveraging a digital platform that automates tasks at all levels. blökkli and Drupal support automated generation of translations and alternative texts to minimise administrative work for the Museum.
Key Figures
The relaunch project from the clientâs perspective
After launching the new website for the Museum fĂŒr Gestaltung ZĂŒrich, we reflected with the client on challenges, success factors, and future opportunities. This blog post shares their perspective on collaboration, user focus, and digital transformation.
Hereâs what the client had to saySecure operation, sound UX/UI expertise, and in-depth knowledge in accessibility (WCAG) were key success factors for us. Liip supported us with expertise, reliability and open collaboration. Implementing the project in just four agile sprints was challenging: between design and realisation, we had to develop efficient solutions for complex requirements together again and again. The result is a web platform that is flexible, user-oriented and future-proof.
Scalable Event Management with Drupal
We developed a flexible event management system for the Museum fĂŒr Gestaltung ZĂŒrich. By extending and contributing to the Recurring Events module, we created a solution that handles complex schedules, group bookings, and multilingual workflows while giving back to the Drupal community.
