Maybe I didn't pay attention, but today I got my monthly mobile phone bill by Sunrise and the GPRS rates were higher than usual. Approx. 1.4 MB for ~23 CHF, that's fucking 16 CHF per MB. Last time I checked, that was at 7 per MB. Grrreat..

Closer inspection of their website revealed, that they are indeed now charging 20.- for the first MB and then 7.5 for 1-5 MB and then 3.5/MB. Fine for people using a lot of GRPS (but it's still more expensive until ~6 MB than before), but for me, that's almost double as much as before and I'm usually below 1MB per month (just checking mails

when I'm on the go or look up something), so they almost tripled the price for me. Bastardsā€¦ I have to check the offers from the other 2 telcos, I'm seriously not happy about this ā€¦

Update: So, I checked the others. Assuming, you have 1.5 MB volume per month (just a random figure)

Sunrise: 23.75 (1 20 + 0.5 7.5)

Orange: 22.50 (1.5 * 15.-)

Swisscom: 15.- (1.5 * 10.-)

Sunrise before: 10.50 (7 * 1.5 )

The new Sunrise price plan is the looser in this scenario. The providers additionally all have some special price plan. If you pay more on your monthly fee, you're charged less per MB. Would only be worth for Orange here, for 5.- per month I get an MB for 10.-

Anyway, it of course really depends on how much you transfer each month, but I don't think that the average user uses GPRS a lot (if at all..) and I suppose the 1.5 MB max. figure is the upper limit for most users. Moblogging didn't really succeed lately ;)
