Centralised document and rights management

One of the core tasks of Liip was the development of the content management system and a document management system, that allowed the extensive use of metadata (e.g. product line information). As a result, every Migros branch can for example show documents and messages related to their product line. Different permission levels can be individually assigned to take into account a wide range of organisational units, each with different staff levels.

Open system

Liip opted for the open-source content management system Drupal because of its effective standard functionality. This CMS satisfied most of the programming requirements. Symfony 2 was also used to integrate interfaces and other middleware. This open-source architecture offers greater vendor independence compared to the previous proprietary product.

Collaboration

The excellent and intensive collaboration between MGBā€™s product-owner team, Liip and Zeix (responsible for the user concept and design) led to the following key innovations:

  • Optimised user experience and therefore considerable time savings.
  • Better performance.
  • Increased system extensibility.
  • Open-source architecture that offers greater vendor independence compared to the previous proprietary product.
