Liip AG was founded in 2007 following a merger between Zurich-based Bitflux GmbH and Fribourg-based mediagonal AG. The company has gone on to become a leader in the agile and iterative design, development and extension of digital services.

Over the last few years, Liip has won numerous awards, but the company reached a truly historic milestone on 15 February 2015 when it welcomed its 100th employee. However, the new arrival, Marina Horner, is no stranger to the Liip family. Before spending a semester abroad as part of her studies, Marina had been a member of Liip's Fribourg team. For Nadja Perroulaz, one of Liip's managing directors, Marina's return proves that the company is on the right track: “We support and encourage our employees whenever and however we can. We supported, mentored and encouraged Marina from the outset, and I am delighted that she has returned to the Fribourg team. Marina is an awesome Liiper!”

Marina is far from being the only female Liiper. Women make up 27% of the Liip workforce – a relatively high share for a company in the technology sector – and are employed across all of the company's departments. Equality is simply part of Liip's DNA, a fact that was officially recognised in 2014 when the company won the national Prix Egalité. For Liip, equality means that both partners are able to find a better work-family balance without having to sacrifice their career goals.

Focus on sustainability

Social and environmental responsibility is extremely important for Liip. All Liipers, wherever they are based in Switzerland, use public transport or cycle. Fairness, transparency and family-friendly working conditions are a given. Also, the company is entirely employee-owned.

All 100 Liipers are allocated to one of the company's local teams. This set-up benefits the customer, as they have a point of contact who can speak their language and who are nearby should they need any advice or assistance. Sustainability is an integral part of Liip's business culture. According to partner Nadja Perroulaz, Liip has continually had to make sure that plans are in place to allow the company to absorb the steady growth it has seen over the last few years. However, company growth is driven solely by market demand and financed entirely from the company's cash flow. Marina Horner may be the latest member of the Liip family but she most certainly will not be the last. Liip is always looking to recruit new talent who will help strengthen its teams.
