Release of Symfony CMF 1.1

Liip has been a major player in the Symfony2 PHP Content Management Framework (CMF) project since 2010. The aim is to provide Symfony users with an infrastructure that allows them to add CMS functionality to applications built with the Symfony2 PHP framework.

For example, the Symfony CMF routing component is a core element of Drupal 8 and ezPublish 5. At the same time the standard persistence layer - the PHP Content Repository (PHPCR) – can be integrated with the Apache Jackrabbit Content Repository. This means that PHP can be combined with other CMS solutions like Adobe Experience Manager and Magnolia.

Development work on Symfony CMF 1.1 focussed on simplifying function configuration and use. The new version also features tools that identify error sources more quickly and optimise performance, as well as a host of new functions and upgrades, including a search-engine optimisation (SEO) component.

Since the first stable release in October 2014, the CMF team has gone on to notch up one success after another. With sulu.io, PrestaCMS is no longer the only content management system on the block which uses all the key components developed by the CMF project team. Sylius, a Symfony2-based e-Commerce project, has also adopted the CMF. And, last but by no means least, the CMF was crowned best Symfony2-based open-source project at the 2013 SymfonyCon in Warsaw.
