The pilot project OGD@Bund is the brainchild of the Swiss Federal Archives, the Federal Office of Topography (swisstopo), the Federal Office of Meteorology and Climatology (MeteoSwiss), the Federal Statistical Office and the Swiss National Library ā€“ supported by theĀ Federal IT Steering Unit FITSU and the Federal Chancellery. First, Liip and itopia helped the project partners clarify any strategic, legal and organisational issues. Once answers to these questions were found, Liip then set about developing the open government data portal.

The OGD portal was launched on 16 September 2013. Since then, the canton of Zurich, led by its e-Government task force, the Federal Office of Public Health and the Federal Office for the Environment have also come on board.

The Swiss Web award is recompense for the courage that the project partners have shown in their choice of solution which, although innovative, is still seen by many authorities as unorthodox. The web agency Liip is proud to have played a part in making the federal administration and government more transparent, innovative and efficient. The benefits that this progress generates will be reaped by all.

We would like to take this opportunity to thank our customers and partners who have made this success possible.
