Migipedia
As a champion of social media, Migros offers its customers a new platform, Migpedia, where they can share opinions on Migros products directly with the company and other users.
Open
Migipedia is an open and transparent social media tool. Migros customers can look for products either by entering the name or via the navigation bar. The product page features assorted information like the price, nutritional value and ingredients. Users can also rate and comment on the product, thereby helping to shape this open community platform.
On-trend
Migipedia is constantly being developed. Every month, it features new products, new functions and upgrades. The discussion forum and feedback forms give users the chance to help shape Migipedia.ch.
Complex
The Migipedia project, in which Liip is involved, is one of the most complex Drupal projects in Switzerland. It links up different systems by collating and aggregating their product data. Drupal is one the best-known open source content management systems (CMS) and offers a wealth of functions that are well-suited to the Migipedia platform. These include the construction of multilingual complex relational data structures using CCK, content marking and tagging, powerful search functions thanks to Apache Solr, the integration of Facebook functions, as well as automated deployment with Features and Drush. The back end applications are “Okapi” PHP framework and the Zend Library. The REST architecture separates front-end and back-end applications, making it easy to incorporate new output channels, such as iPhone apps which were added recently.
